An upgraded EVF is the best yet seen on Panasonic. Similarly the 2 in LCD has had a revamp; it's a flip and twist type , which offers protection and allows viewing from unusual angles. Camera handling in manual and AE modes has been improved by the inclusion of two control dials on the front and hack of the hody. Panasonic's Venus II proces sor is present, which offers a fast startup time of 0.97seconds, and a 0.01 sec shutter lag, making the camera much more responsive than its predecessor. Colours are good, though white balance seemed a tad on the cold side in shady conditions. Sharpness is good too. although there is still a danger of camera snake at the long end of the lens. There are some great features for the price, not least the finely crafted lens. But if you spend a little extra money, you can purchase the upgraded FZ50. Features and specs are good and with care the FZ30 can produce excellent results.
