CONS: Some big for portable use, loose exchanging between requests, can not enter destination locations in Outside way.

Unlike conventional GPS devices, the versatile Magellan Crossover GPS delivers direction-finding prowess that includes in-car, outdoor, and marine navigation. Magellan even worked in multimedia capabilities with a digital music player and photo viewer. At 3.4x4.3x1.1 inches and 8.5 ounces, CrossoverGPS isn't as portable as some handheld devices we've seen, but the trade-off for size is a big, bright 3.5-inch touch-screen display. The unit's shell is high-impact, water resistant plastic and comes with a rubberized Sport Guard band, suiting it well for outdoor activities. For in vehicle navigation. the device's 4GB of integrated flash memory comes preloaded with detailed street maps and a points of interest database for the 50 states. as well as for Canada and Puerto Rico. Also included are outlined topographic maps for outside use. An SD/MMC card slot lets you load more-detailed topographic maps and marine maps for many regions (sold separately). You can also door music and photos via SD/MMC card.
The CrossoverGPS performed well in our tests, offering a quick satellite fix, clear 2D and 3D maps, and largely accurate route cal culations during vehicle navigation. We also appreciated the text-to-speech functionality, which allows the device to vocalize street names. Two gripes: You can't enter destination addresses when the unit is in Outdoor mode, as you can in Vehicle mode. Also, we found the device a bit slow when switching between applications.
In our battery drain tests, we press on an affecting 7 hours and 22 minutes on a single charge, just shy of Magellan's rated battery life of 8 hours.
