A stable business notebook for a economic price
If you can live without flashy extras or a wide-screen display, Lenovo 3000 C200 delivers solid performance and battery life at an impressively low price. Weighing 6.1 pounds, Lenovo C200's boxy case feels solidly con structed, though not as sturdy as those of its Lenovo ThinkPad cousins. This business-focused notebook's 15-inch, standard aspect screen has a typical for its size native resolution of 1,024x768. This LCD isn't as eye-catching as a wide-screen display, but it's adequate for standard viewing.
While we liked Lenovo C200's roomy, comfortable keyboard, its shallow touch-pad buttons don't depress as far as we'd like. Also, apart from three volume buttons, Lenovo C200 has no dedicated me dia controls, and it lacks a fingerprint reader.Lenovo C200 offers a solid assortment of ports and connections for the price, however.
Powered by a capable 1.66GHz Core 2 DuoT5500 processor and 1GB of DDR2 RAM, the C200 has plenty of pep for basic productivity tasks. (Note: Our review unit ran Windows XP Pro fessional, but at press time Lenovo began shipping the C200with Windows Vista Business.) In our performance tests, it bested its budget sibling, the Lenovo 3000 N100, and trailed just a bit behind the midrange Asus W7J (reviewed at right). In our battery-drain test, the C200 lasted 4 hours and 29 minutes, above average for a midsize laptop.
